An Adoption Professional's Guide to School-Based Support
This live webinar training will help adoption professionals understand educational options and appropriately prepare and support parents who are navigating school-based support. Speakers will focus on factors affecting an adopted child's academics, including early childhood trauma and deprivation, age at adoption, poor nutrition, cognitive development and attachment. Attention will also be given to common school related behavioral challenges and diagnoses that can impact school functioning. We will also highlight interventions for a child's success, with a focus on adoption-competent assessment, parental support and the importance of trauma-informed teachers.

NCFA’s President and CEO, Ryan Hanlon, is pleased to be joined by Dana Poynter, Executive Director of Kentucky Office, at Nightlight Christian Adoptions, for this webinar. Dana has extensive experience in navigating school-based supports with those impacted by adoption.
